The Institute for Research: Middle Eastern Policy, an independent Washington-based policy research institute, has addressed three recent statements to the upcoming trial of former AIPAC officials Steve Rosen and Keith Weissman who have been indicted for espionage and giving classified documents to the Israeli government. Larry Franklin, formerly an analyst with the Defense Intelligence Agency, has been convicted for his part in these transactions and is currently serving a 12-year jail term. IRMep's latest press release regarding a correction it is seeking from the Washington Post neatly summarizes the state of the Rosen-Weissman indictment.

IRMep has just published a book on "how the Neoconservatives broke the law to receive America" called "Deadly Dogma." The author is Grant F. Smith, and it is available from their website, www.irmep.org. This release is being sent with IRMep's permission.



On Saturday, April 29, 2006 the Washington Post will issue a correction to a Walter Pincus story about the AIPAC espionage case.

The correction comes at the insistence of IRmep after a one month process working through the newspaper's Ombudsman office. At first Ombudsman Deborah Howell was reluctant to issue a correction about the espionage statutes. At stake was a citation in an AIPAC espionage trial story in which reporter Walter Pincus misquoted the 1917 Espionage Act. The Act is used to prosecute persons suspected of relaying classified information which can be used to "the injury of the United States or to the advantage of a foreign country."

After receiving numerous examples from IRmep of how Pincus' mistake was being propagated into other stories trivializing AIPAC lobbyistWeissman and Rosen's alleged criminal activities, yesterday the Post finally gave in and committed to a correction of the story.

IRmep is still concerned that the Washington Post and other newspapers of record are trying to portray the prosecution of Weissman and Rosen as a looming threat to journalists' ability to cover national security issues. Other Pincus articles have quoted verbatim the defense team's assertion that prosecuting two lobbyists for espionage activity is a threat to freedom of speech.

IRmep believes this is nonsense, but the presiding judge in the case, T.S. Ellis, is still considering a motion to dismiss the charges on the basis of the freedom of speech argument. He will rule on the defense team's motion to dismiss on May 23, 2006.

Before that date, IRmep will attempt to file another amicus brief to the court demonstrating that the Espionage statute functions as a sort of "regulation FD". Fair Disclosure is the SEC rule that protects small investors by regulating the disclosure of material information on publicly traded companies to prevent "insider trading".

By allegedly recruiting former Pentagon official Lawrence Franklin (sentenced to 12 years in prison) to disclose classified information in return for a potential job on the National Security Council, Weissman and Rosen were in no way exercising "freedom of speech", but rather corrupting US Middle East policy formulation to the detriment of all Americans.

IRmep considers the Rosen and Weissman criminal trial to be a potential turning point in overhauling a broken US policy formulation process. A successful prosecution could mean the permanent removal of one of the most damaging unregistered foreign agents ever activated in the United States: the American
Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

Removing AIPAC will level the playing field and outlaw trading inside information for unwarranted influence. After AIPAC a broader array of important policy voices will be heard in Washington.

I doubt the retraction will be as widely read as the original. But I am glad they are being forced to do it. They did not report acurately the air tight case of spying where the FBI has it all on tape and foud over 100 files at Franklins house in a raid whatsoever.

AIPAC's trial has now been bumped to Aug 7th. Gee anyone think they are stalling to get the war with Iran BEFORE the AIPAC trial spills the beans? Many think we will bomb Iran in June after the Bilderberg meeting in Canada.

No sooner can I report the AIPAC trial date then the Judge moves it for the 3d time! The new date has not been announced it seems like it could be in October.

They know they are racing against time. Israel's days of controlling the US are numbered.

It has been April 20 May 23 August 7th and now some date in October

Has anyone out there been able to get access to any of the pleadings in this case? I have seen the judge's motion to dismiss but that's about it. I think the reason they keep moving it is because of the wiley defendents. You see, if they keep filing dumbass motions, all those dumbass motions have to be dealt with before the trial goes on. (plus the Eastern District Court of Virginia is a big headache of red tape, buffoons, and egotistical lawyers and judges )

I think I said this already but its burried on the forum so Ill say it again.
Basically what Rosen and Weissman have done is they have tried playing stupid and they have tried to play ignorant. They were caught on tape gettin gillegal documants from Franklin who has gotten 12 years in jail already. NOw what they are saying is oh but we didn't know those documents were bad/illegal. I mean anyone could give you a document, and you dont know what is in it until you open it and oops so it was top secret government documents. Problem being that they passed them to the Israeli embassy and did it multiple times and met in secret.

They have tried hounding the judge and they had the Washington Post write some stupid article saying the case was based on a out of date never before used espionage law from WWI. BUt se that was just bullshit, that is not what the case in centered on.

It's an open and shut case. I mean damn they are on film from the FBI stealing documents from a mole who has already been convicted. But you are right about Virginia esp Nova, it's full of red-tape. AIPAC tried to have the trial dismissed all together. They are trying to buy time now. This is not the first time they have been caught spying and there were over 200 Israelis caught in a known spy ring prior to 911. AND the ADL has been caught spying. AND we have that entire mess with Abramoff bribing congress and so on. I will have my pop-corn ready when this trial starts. I know that few to no one will report it but I am going to report it loud and proud and get into every detail. Ill probably get into it and the history on the radio. Because believe it or not I hate writing.

Yeah, I know the deal, but i love to read original documents. They are very telling. I saw the judges order on the motion to dismiss...was wondering what pleadings are after that. If you do report it, you are going to need those so you won't have to depend on the media for your info.

AFter the top Democrats got wrapped up on this it has widened the trial and bumped the date yet again, kinda of good and bad news. I want the trial ASAP but it gave us more time before a strike on Iran and it has ensnared more of the criminals involved. I expect this to widen even more and snatch Pelosi as well.

It really pisses me off how hard it is to get any information on this case. You have to look for hours. I mean if you google it this site is in the top ten. No one is writing about this, I always have to get the minutes from the trial itself because there is a total news black out including the web.

AIPAC trial update

OK so I had to get the court records from Virginia to find this out because it is not in the news anywhere. (and we all know why see media)

Steven Rosen and Keith Weissman have had their court date bumped now five times. I will save you the time of reading the long court document. They have a hear tomorrow Dec 21st to discuss and order that had been issued back in November. (p49 in the html file.) The next hearing has been set for March 12, 2007 at first I was mad about this but then I realized what was going on. They want to go through the Libby trial first this January. The reason the AIPAC spy ring case has taken so long is because of petty snowballing by the defendants and then the cherry popped and the prosecution found out just how big this iceberg is and how many people in involves.

The trial probably wont happen until May. Yes I know I am as impatience as any of you. This is THE most important trial running. However the Libby trial which connects to all of this will be happening this January. I will probably go over it on the radio.

yeah i figured they were just dragging their chains. i've been through a big court case. you can go in there, get up in front of the judge and (your attourney) says: "we'd like to motion for a continuence". this gets your court date immediately rescheduled. this can be done by the prosecution or the defense side. the court date is usually moved up about 30-60 days, depending on how busy the court is. this practce is mostly commonly used when one side is unprepared, but it may be used to simply prolong the case. this is how i got waived into 'adult' court when i got busted with all that weed at the age of 15. they wanted to try me as an adult so we motioned for a lot of continuances (which nowadays i regret).

i am a little impatient here because getting this trial unde way will cause a lot of trouble for this corrupt little faction. trouble that will work in our favor. i realize the importance of this trial now, as does ry.
