Why is the Cleveland Indians baseball logo, Chief Wahoo, acceptable when other racial caricatures, such as Little Black Sambo and the Frito Bandito, are not?

My score was 8.

My college was the Indians as well. It was a private methodist school and we had the most natives out of any in this area. On homecoming, we made a teepee villeage and we did do tons with respect to native culture. I personally was never offended but we didnt make fun as much as it seemed there was a respect. I mean all over the school there were historic pix of natives and what not. Its wasnt a joke like that pix above.

There are holes in EVERY question(100 million??? c'mon) and look at when they blow up the fine print in the Constitution: It highlights Indian Savages but on the original document all the S's look like F's. And as for the mascots, what about the UND Fighting Sioux who were banned from competing in the NCAA because they kept their name, at the request of local Sioux Tribes?

yeah the 100 million question was wrong. 100 years after columbus would only be 1592 which was before Europeans had even set foot on about 95% of this hemisphere. However, 8.5 million were killed in the first 50 years just in the West Indies. I would guess around 12 to 20 million in the first 100 years and perhaps 100 million total from 1492 to 1820.

Yeah, I'm still not convinced. The most academic population estimates for the ENTIRE world in 1700 are still between 90 and 120 million, total.
And you've got to think that the bulk of those estimates were concentrated in Asia and Europe.

Actually about 55 million died in the first 100 years (South American and Central America used to have the largest populaitons) but it was 95% of the population another 20 million were killed in Canada and what's now America.

The word Red Skin refers to Dead Indians red because of the blood stains. Whites also called Indians and Asians red and yellow because they wanted to make clear seperate races.
