He's lucky to have had the sweet misfortune of non-involvement in government these past few years, so there are no votes funding the war for him to defend. But I reckon he's an average politician, saying what people want to hear when they want to hear it. And I imagine if he'd been in Congress these since '03 he would have voted to fund Iraq every time.
