Adventurous travellers might want to mark this May in their diaries as the dawn of the age of time travel - at least that's what a team of Russian scientists are suggesting could happen.
The trigger that might just herald the arrival of the first time travellers and, thus, the first usable time machines will be the inauguration of a research facility in Switzerland dedicated to smashing and understanding the building blocks of matter.
Near light speed
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), run by CERN, will deliberately collide sub-atomic particles that are traveling around a 27km loop at close to the speed of light. The goals of the scientists working on the project include filling many gaps in our understanding of physics, but there are suggestions that the LHC could create miniature black holes and wormholes in space-time.
Russian mathematicians Irina Aref'eva and Igor Volovich from Steklov Mathematical Institute in Moscow suggest that there's an outside possibility that such wormholes could be the key to a future civilisation understanding time travel. Naturally, once their time machines were built, travelling back to when it all started would have obvious appeal to them.
Grandfather clause?
The fact that we've never seen time travellers yet simply underlines that moving back through time would be possible only as far back as the creation of the first time machine - and that could be the LHC.
Whether or not our worldview is about to be turned upside-down in a few weeks is anybody's guess, but the scientists are saying that we should at least be ready for the possibility of meeting our great, great grandchildren a little early.

Zee you still trying to go back in time?
check this out it applies: (I will read the post in greater detail when I get home. I like to think and talk about this stuff too.)

Very neat! Germans/Russians make the best Physicists. The pic is a wormhole or what one would think a wormhole would look like. The only issue most articles and scientist talk to public in 3d when in fact space is in all d-vectors/directions. I would agree that wormhole would likely happen, not in our lifetime but some time, maybe thousand year or so. To assume time travel, is a leap but one I also like to think of. If we could travel in time, it is assume that we wouldn’t be able to go to anytime with out that technology: meaning when could start traveling from the day that it was invented and beyond that impossible. I still think more of science fiction as we are stuck in now: I always wished I were born 10,000 years in the future. I can imagine what dreams will come: Very exciting and the good stuff of science indeed.

a worm hole is not time travel it is space travel. It makes a long distance short. That is not the same thing as going back and forth in time.

Yup. That is also what I said. The idea of 'time travel; however, will arise (as it is believed today) from the technology that is thought of to be used for wormholes and that is how they are related and what Zee's post and my video is reffering to.

time does not exist you can not go back in time because there is no past. time is a human measurement on the Now.

This is very nice from a philosophy standpoint: however from the point of view of science. Time does exist, as it is a measurement of placement of an object in one frame of reference to the next. I’m located at x in point of time y. So when we talk about ‘time travel’ we are talking about taking an object from this reference which includes time to another.
