Anti-Neocons

Hamas is in power. Is this the way the US and Israel wanted it to go? Perhaps. Well think of it this way, now that Hamas are in power Israel and the US don't have to do anything, no discussion no agreements, they can oppress the palestinians even more. However, the flipside is this. Fatah in power might have been more favourable to Israel as they're just corrupt puppets do whatever the US and Israel say. But the US and Israel are between a rock and a hard place - they wanted democracy and a terrorist organisation has won. Oh dear! Looks like democracy only suits the free world when it goes there way.

Well my opinion is that it has gone their way. With Hamas in power the US and Israel can now do whatever they want. They can now point fingers freely at Hamas. Let's not forget that Hamas might have been funded by the Likud party themselves.

Well Condi Rice the mega bitch said she thought we should cut off aid to Palestine just because they voted for Hamas. Normally that is what you do for a nation breaking international laws (like Israel does every damn day) but we reward those who break the law yet call for restrictions on those who actually legally follow the democratic process.

that is just the tip of my thoughts on that but I am busy today so more later.

this is oh so true.....bush wants deMOCKracy in the middle east he doesn't want TRUE DEMOCRACY. I mean look at this country, under the neocon rule, we have not had TRUE democracy. So now we're punishing a democratically elected government..thing is, it's not the government that's suffering, it's the people, which will alienate the moderates and will spawn more extremism, especially when you have a group like Hamas who will exploit this. The neocons, are indeed sitting between a rock and a hard place......they're slippin' though..and you can tell, because now their whole Iraq argument for democracy has gone to shit..cause democracy, isn't always the answer....prime expample look at Haiti....

You think they weren't doing that before? For years before the Oslo accords Israel recognized the PLO as a "terrorist organization" and refused to speak with them. You don't think Israel would come up with an excuse anyway no matter who the Palestinians elected?

Well its no wonder they voted for Hamas, besides sending in suicide bombers, they provide the basic services that Israel denies: FOOD, HEALTH, SCHOOLS. SOCIAL PROGRAMS!!! Hellooooo? Let's see, should I vote for the group that is perceived as part of the problem of perpetuating Israeli tyranny or the group that is actually doing things to make sure people survive in an aparteid state? Hamas may attack civilians, but that makes them no worse than the Israeli military.

Neo-cons only support democracy when it favors their corporate interests. This is one of the many hypocracies of this movement. Makes me sick frankly.

Democracy in theory is a great idea, better than dictatorship anyway. But my idea of democracy is the chomsky idea of democracy. Not what we have today.

Now a question I'd like to pose to you guys for the sake of discussion. Is imagine if the many many middle eastern 'governments' you know the princes, kings, dictators etc etc(all propped up by the west!) were to have the american ideal of 'democracy and freedom', yes those words we hear lambasted about everyday in the media. Imagine that, wouldn't that be the biggest threat to the US - to have democracy in the middle east?

We 'SAY" we are promoting Democracy, yet when Democracy is realised, and we don't like it, we attempt to destroy it.

As was pointed out earlier, Hamas has done so much for the social aspects of the Palestinian people that it is no wonder that they got voted in.

2006 is going to be an interesting year as the double standard of the US gets shunned around the world.

I am ashamed and embarrassed to be an American and I am looking to leave this country.

I am ex-US-Military and a professional with a degree, I WAS an American Patriot for many years but I have given up. America DESERVES whatever they get!!
