For on the ground info in the middle east, the best for my buck is DAHR JAMAIL. Just Google him.
Robert Fisk has been around forever and lives in Lebanon. He's appeared on a show in NY many times called Democracy Now hosted by Amy Goodman. she's a real lefty but she's tough and smart.
If you go to the Democracy Now archives and enter Robert Fisk you'll be pretty up to date.
You can also see/hear Democracy Now every weekday after 12 noon.
The show is about 50% domestic policy and 50% foreign policy.
If you have an interest in 3rd world oppression, the guy to google is John Pilger.
INFORMATIONCLEARINGHOUSE has tons of stuff (mostlly, but not all, left wing and a great search engine. Its run by a guy named Tom Feeney in CA).
Also, the Libertarian site ANTIWAR.COM has alot of stuff (note: it is anti Iraq war but was actually set up to oppose the bombing in Yugoslavia).
If your antiwar juice starts to run low enter DEPLETED URANIUM BABY PHOTOS in yahoo or google and your blood will boil anew.

They are not different sects they are merely different schools of thought. Naturally these two groups shouldn't be fighting and the majority of all Muslims know this but the governments of the Muslim countries have succeeded in brainwashing many. Fortunately this stupid conflict is on a fast down spiraling stagnation. The U.S media however, is encouraging it to continue.

I wish people would realize that its not "muslim" countries. the different Muslism "sects" that are killing eachother are not really different religions they are different Businesses viving for control not for theological suprimacy. They are not killing over religion, they are killing over business because that is what religious institutions are.

The whole Middle east is filled with nothing but puppet governments like you have just basically stated. They have no real loyalty except to money, even if they have to bend over for the U.S or Britain. These elite fool sincere Muslims, but the governments are starting to get shaky and lose ground.
In particular Saudi Arabia, I sure hope that government collapses and comes crashing and burning down. Muslim insurgency is happening everywhere more then ever now in Malaysia, Thailand, Sudan, Somalia, and many other Muslim countries where the governments are losing power.
And no Islam is not meant for this, that's why the people fighting against these governments and thier western influence are all called Mujahideen. You see a great example of Mujahideen that were succesful recently is Hezbollah.
Regardless of your disbelief if an Islamic State suddenly rose up and was powerful enough to destroy the Israeli government I know you'd support it.

3) As far as this intra - Muslim strife goes - what is a Sunni man with a Shiite wife of say 20 or 30 years supposed to do - wake up one day and disown her (and perhaps his kids).
The USA is promoting this violence so we have an excuse to stay and continue building our 14 Permanent bases including one in Bagdad bigger than the Vatican. The chaos is planned.
By the way, alot of these incidents are done by guys in police uniforms.
Do you think they get them from a theatrical equipment company?
These guys are the police - operating under the instruction of the Interior Ministry - which is operated by US GOV.
Yes it a great plan by the US....if only the public didnt get so angry for us staying there so long and wasnt trying to get us to withraw because of it.

Syria's military was in lebanon to assist the lebanese forces during the civil war I beleive. Mossad assasinated Rafik Hariri and blamed it on Syria, so that lebanese ppl would turn on the Syrians so that Israel could finally attack lebanon once again without having to fear war with Syria as well. The lebanese gov forced Syrian forces to leave and they were finally out by 2005. Israel was even trying to get Lebanon to attack Syria, but no one was for that Idea except a few extremist Christian organisations (who were backed by Israel during the civil war)
As for the two soldiers. Hassan Nesrallah said in one of his speaches that the two soldiers are in a secure location that Israeli forces would never be able to get to, and they will not be released until the original terms of their release was met. They have been in on and off negotiations since day 1 of the conflict. This war had nothing to do with these soldiers, Israel doesn't give a flying fuck about the soldiers, as long as they had a pretext for war they got more than they wanted.
