French forces: Stop Lebanon overflights or we'll open fire

By Gideon Alon

The commanders of the French contingent in UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) have warned that if Israeli warplanes continue their overflights in Lebanon, they may have to open fire on them, Defense Minister Amir Peretz told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee yesterday.

Peretz told members of the committee that despite the warnings, Israel would continue to patrol the skies of Lebanon as such operations were critical for the country's security. Over the past few days, Peretz said, Israel had gathered clear evidence that Syria was transfering arms and ammunition to Lebanon, meaning that the embargo imposed by UN Resolution 1701 was not being completely enforced.

Israel plans to inform the joint committee of representatives of UNIFIL, the Israel Defense Forces and the Lebanese Army that unless the arms transfers are stopped, Israel will be forced to take independent action, Peretz said.

Turning to the situation in the Gaza Strip, Peretz said that Israel could under no circumstances allow the Strip to be turned into a second South Lebanon. According to Peretz, the time when Israel used to check who was sending every missile is over, and the IDF is intent on striking at every terrorist no matter what organization he belongs to.

The defense minister said that the current ground operations underway in the Gaza Strip were much more extensive than before. But, he said, "No one is hankering for ground action deep inside the entire Gaza Strip

Their hubris will take them down. Go ahead with the false flag to plan to blame Syria and ignite a war with Syria and Iran. Because the next over flight it going to get shot down. I hope Frabce will shoot down Israeli planes. If Israel were to even attempt to fight France, Palestine amd Lebanon would rise up with the French (a nuclear power like Israel) and demolish the fascist state of Israel.

YOu know why Israel is desperate to jump the gun? No its not the election they own both parties. It's the AIPAC trial

Remember when French Tanks made Israeli tanks withdraw earlier on Sep 29th??

Israeli And French Tanks Face Off In Lebanon

September 28, 2006 12:11 p.m. EST

Ryan R. Jones - All Headline News Middle East Correspondent
Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - Two Israeli tanks were prevented from entering the southern Lebanon village of Marwaheen Thursday when four French Leclerc tanks rushed to block their path.

The Israeli and French tanks faced off at a distance of about 50 yards for over 20 minutes, according to media reports. The French Leclercs eventually withdrew, but only after a further deployment of U.N. peacekeepers to the area.

The Israeli incursion force also included a bulldozer and several other vehicles.

Several hundreds Israeli troops remain deployed in southern Lebanon. Their withdrawal has been delayed amid the U.N. buffer force's refusal to militarily confront Hezbollah, even if the group is moving to attack northern Israel.

The U.N. Interim Force in Lebanon was boosted to 15,000 armed peacekeepers as part of the resolution that ended the summer's war. Israel interpreted its new mandate to include forcibly preventing the kind of Hezbollah aggression that sparked the recent conflict.

What a load of crap Mr. Jones, the conflict would have been sparked by Israel maintaining parts of its illegal occupation on Southern Lebanon and launching a full scale invasion that targeted civilians.

Wow, the French standing up to Israeli aggression... The question is, will they keep their word about the overflights?

If France attacks Isreal they will destroy it within days, they know that if they do something it will have to be before America can put its opinion into the issue in the form of bombs as always.

The french know what's going on they have a huge Muslim population, it's no suprise that they will be the major power to stand up against Isreal. Not to mention the riots were putting public pressure on French leaders to stop playing the bitch to other countries.

It really is time that France won a war or two. Joan of Arc was really the last successful leader, America and Britain won ww2. Charlemegne didn't accomplish anything, and Napoleon was in the long run a failure.

Yeah, I don't see them opening fire on the Israelis either, but it would be awesome if they did.
