"Prometheus is a stupid person's idea of an intelligent film.
It has a lot of unexplained plot elements and ambiguities, so they think it's mysterious. Its a sci-fi film with a lot of science, so they think it's got brains. It grapples with the biggest question of all (where did we come from?) so they think it's deep.
But that's what makes them stupid, because the smallest critical glance reveals the ambiguities to be stupidities, the science to be phoney, and the "big question" a cynical charade"

I haven't see this movie but it sounds like I shouldn't. The last movie I saw at the theater was "Snow white and the huntsman", I thought Charlize Theron was wonderful and the movie was dark.

Snow White was good. And because of the queen and the huntsman I also liked how snow white wasn't a passive ninny. Prometheus was terrible, but if you were 10 you'd enjoy it because none of the retarded stuff would bother you.

You'd also enjoy it if you just wanted to watch a well-executed sci-fi movie, which, unsurprisingly, is the one aspect of the film that virtually no one is complaining about. It is only the plot points people seem to be criticizing.
And of course the "science" is phoney, that's why the genre is called "science fiction", and not "science fact".

it wasnt sci-fi it was just fi. My problem is not that its fictional or far fetched. My problem was that its stupid. I dont have a problem with fiction I am a huge fan of comicbook heroes I have the ability to give a pass on the super far fetched science. But even fiction has some rules. LIke you could not have spiderman easily pick up a bus and then later be unable to lift a car.
The scientists who are supposed to be brains from 2091 act like a bunch of middle school kids on an aventure. There is a severe lack of philosophy, and ton of jesus jacking, and about 40 unforgivable flaws as pointed out in the video on the top of the thread. The only thing worth a damn was the special effects. The plot stunk, the writing was terrible, it was the worst movie I have ever seen. Even with it being sci-fi and having an android. and its hard to get me to dislike an android. Data, QT10, Ghost in the Shell's major, they're always my favorite characters because they are the most rational. Accept in Prmetheus where although its cool to make a hookshot on a bicycle the 'robot' has favorite films, and emotional faults, not to mention it apparently has ESP and I cant say with out spoiling the main "plot"
I was very much looking forward to the film, but they acted like the jackboots from preditor not alien. There was so much room there to have a philosophical back and forth but instead it was childish crap religion vs nonreligion, and damn i dont even know where to start, oh look the guy is petrified of sounds he sees an alien snake hey i have an idea let me play with it. terrible terrible film.

Having brains (even from 2091) does not necessarily equate to mental or emotional maturity, so it's not really a contradiction to have brainy people who act immature. Also, at least 1 of the characters who went on the expedition only did it "for the money" and not surprisingly, he's the one that acts like less of an adult than the others, was scared of sounds, wanted to play with that alien snake and wasn't he also the one who was smoking? That could explain a lot about him.
The characters really aren't a mystery as anyone who's seen sci-fi suspense-horror films would be quite familiar with them, and from what I'm seeing, the vast majority of the complaints about the movie revolve around them. It is strange that people complain so much about such things, as they should be used to them by now. When it comes to these sort of movies, the characters (aside from the main one) are always going to be the weakest link, and it's a waste of time trying to figure them out, or care much for them. The ones that go first are usually the less-developed, while the ones that go last are usually better-developed. It's how it always is. I've come to expect it, and so should anyone who watches movies like this.

Ever seen Star Trek the next generation? They have adults in it. And the real android. Try it out. It wasn't just that these people act like a bunch of middle school kids, it was the plot and premiss of the movie, plus for me all the sick jesus references. I could have done without that.
Oh look a big wheel is gonna crush us, instead of turning right or left ill just run in a straight line. I could not care about any of those characters and wheather or not they lived or died. And the aliens were not building suspense or creepy at all like he original Alien films. It was like a large animal. Oh look there seems to be oxygen lets all take of our helmets who cares about alien germs that could be in the air or other gasses lets just do monkey see monkey do. There was something stupid in like every 2 minutes in that film.

I think Damon Lindelof wrote much of the screenplay. He was one of the main writers for Lost. Yeah, explains everything....
Ridley Scott is a great director. I think he was at the mercy of the studio mostly and also the lousy screenplay. To be fair, he had this idea years ago. The skeletal premise of finding out how the space jokey aliens were and also where the aliens came from. The studio cut out nearly 30 mins I read including a much extended scene from the very beginning which was probably dumb cause that scene makes no sense. The premise kinda grew on me, even though I thought the film was dull. The thing was, it didn't have to be. I blame it on these studio execs who sit in focus groups and come up with the elements of a summer blockbuster based on how they think we are predictable sheeple.
Hence all the remakes. Or in this case, an ancient astronaut film combined with universe of the director's 1979 sci-fi thriller. Us humans are unpredictable, that's what these psychopaths don't quite understand. I'm not a huge fan of the Hollywood system for obvious reasons, but I enjoyed Inception. That was NOT a traditional Hollywood flick. More like a big-budget 'variation' of Memento which is from the same director. They gave him more control cause of Batman.
