Russia's President has denounced attempts to link Islam with terrorism, saying terrorism has no national or religious identity.
In an interview published on the Kremlin website, Vladimir Putin underlined that terrorism existed everywhere and urged the international community to combat the ideology of hatred.
He also cautioned against any military attack on Iran and said such a move would be a serious mistake.
He added that the recent US intelligence report shows the Iranian nuclear capabilities are based on peaceful means and endorses Russia's rightful policy towards the Islamic Republic.
Putin explained that the report left no legitimate excuse for additional pressure on the Islamic Republic.
In another interview with Time magazine on Wednesday, the Russian President described the US occupation of Iraq as a 'big mistake' and criticized US President George W. Bush for not setting a concrete timetable for the withdrawal from Iraq.
