In October of 1774 fifty one women in Edenton, NC dumped tea into to Chowan River as a protest against England. They also signed a declartion to not buy any good from England and to start a textile so that cotton and wool could be spun at home rather than in England.

Among these women was Penelope Ormand the daughter of Wyriott Ormand who was King George's attorny. Penelope was also a singer and the great grand daughter of Mry Ormand, Blackbeard's last wife.

It was rare in 1774 for women to form groups and take bold, open political action.

Just thought I would throw this tit bit out there.
