Anti-Neocons

Not today but soon (this week) all the achieved sections will go private that means you have to sign in to read them. The site has been having lag. It's huge and takes time to load. The main threads like politics, Ron Paul, Economics, will be open to the public but over half the threads are going to be set to log in reads only.

This will make up loading easier and should make things easier to read however to comment you'll have to sign in. I might make some special things like only after 8 posts can you read it. This will clean up the site some and not effect any of the regular writers. Reader's I'm sorry but we'll have to do some signing in. This way bots etc will pass over the hidden areas and get stuck in catchaphy trying to make names.

Ledskof is working on the site too.

What really slows loading, and its worth a try is to get rid of the running videos and gifs in the signature of posters. When you have a large page and you have replied many times and your video or gif is trying to load in every response you make and other make, well, the page is going to take a long time to load. Try limiting peoples signatures to just pictures. Then I could be wrong. Worth a try, don't you think.

yeah.. but that's not really the issue we're seeing. There's some kind of latency somewhere and I have a feeling it's in apache (web server software). I've recompiled it several times and checked to make sure nothing would just hose it.

I'm starting to think it's just something with the service. We may have to end up migrating off again at some point.

The problem, I think, is that the site's traffic is being throttled. That or the pipe to the server is being throttled and that would explain why somethings load fast and somethings timeout.

I gather this is on a shared host? They are usually quite cheap when it comes to CPU and bandwidth resources OR you have one user account hogging up the rest of the account's resources.

I run a server so I know first hand about these things cause I'm guilty of it myself

But anyway, if you guys need a server, I have penty of space and resources. Let me know ...

The site is stalling out even when there is almost no traffic.

The only thing I'm getting out of the log are broken pipes, but that's most likely from people stopping the connection than the actual problem.

There's some kind of slow down somewhere. Not sure if it's in php, apache, or mysql. I need to recompile php at some point anyhow so maybe it will be resolved then.

Could we put a test site up on your host?
