Scott Horton interviews Joshua Snyder - http://antiwar.com/radio/2008/04/30/joshua-snyder/

Joshua Snyder, American English Professor in South Korea, discusses American involvement with North and South Korea since World War II, how the UN gave Truman the excuse to enter the conflict without declaring war, how the defeat of Robert Taft marked the end of the Old Right until Ron Paul, how 106 of America’s 700+ military bases are in South Korea, how the many billions of American tax dollars being wasted on the occupation are subsidizing the booming South Korean economy, how if we left, South Korea could easily defend itself from the North, how reunification would be an economic nightmare for the South to absorb the North, the wide spread dislike of George Bush in Korea and questions surrounding the Syrian/ North Korean nuclear allegations.

was gonna post this in Asia but there's no Korea section, also good to hear this cause as half Korean it always annoys me when the only thing that anyone knows about Korea is the North and their dear leader Kim Jong-il and how they're gonna nuke everyone. and how Koreans eat dogs. ironically Seoul is a very safe as cities go and the South gets rather overlooked.

Father Mun-hyeon appeals to the people of the United States for help to stop the US military base, Camp Humphreys, from pushing farmers off their land in Pyeongtaek, South Korea.
This is in a country where land is limited, especially farming land.

No i've never eaten a dog before. lol. really is not that common but it does happen in korea. my mother is korean and she never eaten it. heck her family used to have a pet dog. Koreans eat a lot of things but for the most part do not eat dog although there are people who do. It gets a lot of attention in the west for obvious reasons and there are problems with the conditions that some of the dogs are kept in because it not actually legal in korea but government doesn't regulate it much. even then I don't think that's common. I think it might be more common among poorer people as way of making money and cheap meat too. I think they use a particular breed of dog too. But I've been to Korea and never came across dog for sale but hey that's not what I was there for.

I don't know what the weirdest thing i have eaten is. squid. some people in Korea eat squid raw, still alive! I had some cold but ti was dead.
