Hi guys, just thought I'd touch on something that you don't see or know about unless you try and get a patent. This is especially important when talking about energy patents, which then ties in to war/neocons and all the stuff that you guys get mad about.

I'll round this out when I get back and add some videos/links to not only prove what I'm saying, but to round out the information.

The patent office is set up to both stifle innovation, and to rip off inventors or allow them to be ripped off by corporations/government.

Let's say you have a great invention. Something that would change the world, say, a motor, or energy producing device.

The first thing you need is a patent lawyer, and a lot of money. A LOT of money. Patent lawyers are the most highly trained lawyers in the world. You need to have a masters in law, and then train for a further 7 years in order to work as a patent lawyer. This makes them, say, a tad expensive.

Second, when you file a patent on a device, you can only file it in one country at a time, for a rather large fee (it averages around $20 000 in costs per patent, per country). So if you make a great device, in order to get a worldwide patent, you need aroundabout 2 million dollars, which is obviously out of range of the average inventor, plus you need another 20 million in reserve in order to defend your patent.

Then, once you lodge a preliminary patent, you have 6 to 12 months in order to lodge your patent application in other countries. IF YOU DO NOT do that within the time period, then ANYONE can patent YOUR invention in any other country, and you yourself as the inventor may not sell your product in that country. Ever.

It gets worse. If, in order to obtain finance for the invention, you tell anyone how your invention works, then the invention is deemed "unpatentable" and no one can patent it, ever. So inevitably, inventors you find yourself in a situation where you say to your financier "I need 2 million bucks" and he says "ill give it to you, but you have to show me the device" and you say "i cant show you" and then he says "then i cant give you the money".

Then we get to government. There are certain laws in various countries designed to rip inventors off totally. For example, a government may decide that an invention is critical to national security, and take that patent from the inventor. The last time that happened to a guy in Australia was when he invented the solar powered streetlight. They took his patent off him, took it over, and paid him less than the amount of money it cost him to develop it.

Why is that important? Because an entire section of patent law applies to energy applications. If you invent a device that produces free or clean energy, you will not be able to patent it. There are endless stories of inventors who have done precisely this, who were either shut down, jailed, or suicided because of it.

If anyone here cares about ending war and promoting freedom, then one of the things you must devote a bit of time to is changing the patent system so that these technologies can be released. Free energy = less need for oil/gas = change in the geopolitical game. Free self made energy = absolute autonomy for the public, and soveriegnity for nations.

The reason I know this is because I know an inventor who has made such a device, and has spent the last 40 years trying to get money to patent it. It's disgusting.
