Iran already controls Iraq they have no need to encourage a civil war. The US will stay bogged down because it wants permenate bases. Though I can Imagine Iran saying attack them there so we dont have to fight them here. The US is going to launch an air strike on Iran and if they wont Israel will jump start it anyway.

The only people that have issue with Iran having influence in Iraq are Pan-Arabs, the U.S and Israel. The general Muslim SUNNI population doesn't really give a crap either way.
And Ritter made some excellent points. Why would Iran want instability when they have a Iranian friendly government in power.

The US jumped on the sides of the Sunnis to go against Iran and Hezbollah. But they have never been on the side of the Shai they are against both groups. The US just chnages focuses. They dont mind paying and arming either side because the point of war is not to win it is to prolong. That is how you make the most moeny.
