not to mention hinduism was practise as far back as 3500 BC. Siddhartha started his life as Hindu and you can see many elements of Hinduism in Buddhism minus the gods as real beings or Braham as God but the teachings of Karma and rebirth are what drove Siddhartha to find an end to suffering. Theravada is the sect that I practise.
I study Mahayana and some Pureland.
I use Zen for mediation.
Right now, I’m reading Shurangama Sutra for the third time. It’s a rather difficult sutra and long. Diamond and Heart are my foundation but I would also recommend Vimalakirti Sutra.

Your knowledge of the Abrahamic faiths far exceed mine. I used to study all kinds of religions, but now I just stick to Buddhism.
