While I definitely don't have anywhere near the contempt for religion that Phys has and I'm not sure what religion ever did to her, I would hardly call the existence of god a fact and start insulting someone for being an atheist. I'm pretty much an atheist myself. I still consider abortions to be wrong myself, and I have avoided having one of my potential children aborted the best possible way: abstinence. Women should have the right to chose to keep their knees together. Being sexually irresponsible is no excuse for killing a child. But it's a two way street, it takes two people to create a child. If I ever accidentally got someone pregnant, I would offer to take full custody of the child after the pregnancy was over and she could go work party and get fucked or whatever she wanted to do with her life that was so important that it was worth taking the life of a human child, and I wouldn't hold it against her. But a lot of men wouldn't. And lets face it, putting kids up for adoption isn't much more morally sound (if at all) than a 1st trimester abortion. A lot of those kids spend the first 18 years of their lives in orphanages and get thrown out on the street without any kind of real concept of how to function in the real world. If you're really concerned about people having abortions Aesop, go adopt some kids. Stand out in front of an abortion clinic with a sign saying you'll adopt someone's kid. I myself intend to have one child of my own and then get a vasectomy and just adopt after that if i decide i want anymore. It would be stupid to outlaw abortion, immoral as it may be, with all the orphaned children out there. There's no shortage of kids to be adopted. Why you would come to these forums and get all heated up and start calling Phys a bad parent and accuse people of taking crack because they support abortion is far beyond me. I have no idea what exactly you are trying to accomplish. As far as honor killings being linked to Islam, all i have to say is that there are plenty of crazy fundamentalist Islamic nut jobs out there, just like any other religion, and just like there are psychotic atheist tree hugging granola cultists. And i think it would do the anti-Israel movement great good to disassociate its self from any system of beliefs, be it Christianity, Judaism, atheism, etc. Honor killings and genocide are something that we should all be able to agree are wrong, just out of common sense, with or without religious justification. Save the anti-abortion rants for another day, we have an astronomically large amount of economic reform to get through (at least a centuries worth, assuming we even move in the right direction) before it would even be remotely feasible to outlaw abortions in a remotely ethical manner. And by the time that day comes, our birth control methods will probably be too advanced for it to matter.

Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." -Einstein
