You have a big issue with how semantics works I guess.

Buddhism does reach into the supernatural. Read a little more about it and you will see. Even the idea of reincarnation is supernatural. If you want to give me an example of a branch of Buddhism that does not include reincarnation I will find something else supernatural about it. If you can realize that you did not give me an example in the first place, please try again because it still stands that all religious include the supernatural.

Using the style of example that you used I could say:

"Christianity is about being kind to your neighbor"

And then says, what is so supernatural about that?

Faith = irrational thinking. If you disagree please explain.

Philosophy can include religious beliefs. But religious beliefs are not what makes philosophy philosophy. Religious beliefs are what make religions religions. What makes philosophy philosophy is an ethos. If this is not clear to you it means that all philosophies have an ethos - that is the most general thing that makes something a philosophy.

I don't doubt that some forms of buddhism reach into the supernatural. However, the supernatural is not a fundamental aspect of it. I think the supernatural is as important to it as it is to philosophy.

That being said, I do consider Buddhism to be a religion, but not for that reason. I consider it to be a religion because it involves beliefs in something sacred or holy, such as Dharma and the Buddha.

Also, I don't consider things like "reincarnation" to be supernatural, as I don't believe it to be beyond nature, or natural laws. It may not be a corporeal phenomenon, but that hardly makes it a supernatural one, as natural laws aren't limited to the corporeal.

But the supernatural is a fundamental aspect of Christianity. Christianity, for all practical purposes, revolves around it. Faith is the most important part about Christianity. In fact, it's arguably the only essential part of Christianity.

As I said, "rationality" is highly subjective, and people have a tendancy to use it as a self-serving bias. Arguing about whether faith is rational or not, is entirely subjective, as it depends on what the faith is in, and what perspective you're looking at it from.

I don't see anything "irrational" about believing in something that is said to exist, but hasn't been conclusively proven or disproven.

But what makes religious beliefs, religious, is when things pertaining to it, are held to be sacred or holy. If they aren't held in this esteem, they aren't religious, and are just philosophical.

No most Buddhism does reach into the supernatural like the idea od reincarnation and the diea of transmigration of souls. Thus it is a religion.

Man of mystery... When did you get into Buddhism? Aren't you Muslim? Not saying you cant be interested in it. I like to learn from all kinds of truths myself.

Leds,
In my earlier post, you will see that I dont believe in death as traditional Buddhist do. I do know that our energy is transferred to one living thing to another so in a sense reincarnated.

Right. The fundamental aspect is the loss of ego and realization of self.

Grrr... Y'all stop saying THE Buddha. I already explained this once.
There is no The Buddha, unless you are talking about Gautama Buddha a spirtural leader. We all can be Buddha's. In fact, there is nothing you need to do in order to be enlightened. Its as simple of a realization of self.
Dharma isnt sacred or holy it is just teachings of reality.

Yes, but philosophy gets into the supernatural as well with metaphysics, but that doesn't make it a religion.

With regard to the transmigration of souls, I don't really consider things like that to be "supernatural", as I don't believe it be beyond nature, or natural laws. It may not be a corporeal phenomenon, but that hardly makes it a supernatural one, as natural laws aren't limited to the corporeal.

The supernatural has to do with the divine.

Yes, I'm Muslim.

I'm not really into Buddhism, I was just using it as an example to prove my point. But, while I don't necessarily endorse different beliefs, I do find some of them interesting to read up on.

Not really.

Supernatural is something that relates to deities or powers outside of the natural world. Where as metaphysics is the study of the nature of reality and our relationship to that, but still w/in the natural world. Some philosophers make a jump to the supernatural world to explain their pov but it isnt an essential characteristic to metaphysics the way supernatural is to religion.

For the record: Buddhism is a religion. I have never disputed that. However, I would say it is one of the least supernatural of all religions. In fact, it only gets into supernatural when talking about death which I dont believe and a few minor details. Therefor, I say it is a philososphy for me.
As it puts all the blame on the person and doesnt look for powers outside of self.

Intl man of mystery I'm sorry man but you don't seem to understand basic logic so I don't really see the point of repeating myself a third time.

Well, I liked what you wrote, some of it. Intl man of mystery :D
But most would call me a mystic, since I meditate. People get annoyed w/me cause I can do the logic too, so they want me to either be atheist or religious. I like sitting on the fence. If I piss people off too much, I just turn my computer off and "puff" they go away.
