haha I'm a youngin'.... I suppose...
Honestly though, I do not see anything wrong *at all* with allowing people under 18 to view porn. It's not as if it is going to harm us or "warp" our minds. In fact, I believe it's quite healthy to allow people to stimulate their sex-drives and explore sexuality far before they turn 18 years old. Besides, most people do it anyways.
I can understand not letting 12 year olds seeing it, as their sex-drive probably hasn't even kicked in. Younger children may have very negative reactions to it, and it can permanently change them... I think?
But 18? That doesn't seem right to me.

ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL depends on the porn. Allowing even a 14 year old boy to see rape-porn is fucking destructive as hell to his sense of what sex is and his respect for women. At that age, they're still so impressionable. Love-making scenes that have respect for all parties involved I think should be seen by anyone, any age, any time. It shouldn't be "dirty" at all. But there is some destructive stuff out there. Where I part ways with our current culture is when they start saying that even nudity is wrong and should be covered up like a horrible secret. It's pretty Orwellian.
But where I side with our culture is in their opposition to letting people under the age of 16 or 15 or so watch something even mildly perverse or too uh.. how should I say it.. special interest? Like weird-ass fetishes and ESPECIALLY rape porn. That shit's just horrible and things that are that extreme just should not be seen by people who are still so impressionable. But the basic nudity and sex (be it hetero or homo sexual) between 2 people that's done with taste is something we should all get used to at a young age (but not barraged with). What I see as MORE destructive is what we have now - where sex and people's body parts are treated as commodities on MTV and BET and VH1. What's worse: seeing nudity and the occasional tasteful sex scene or watching a concert on MTV where women aren't nude but they're treated like sex objects and are meant to show off a rapper's success and at the same time are called "hos"?

well you sure did point something out to me - the fact that there are sick people who get pleasure out of knowing the woman are being painfully tortured and degraded through rape... I'm just so used to watching normal, tasteful porn, I forgot about all the rape, beastiality, S&M, etc.
I don't have any fetishes, and I respect those who do have them, however I do agree that even 14 year olds shouldn't be allowed to watch a girl being raped in all holes possible by 6 guys. That usually contributes to the population of people who commit crimes like that.
What you said reminds me of Europe where, as I am told, there are billboards with a great deal of nudity, and nobody cares, and kids do not grow up to become freaky sex-addicts.
I really don't like American culture, I feel like I'm supposed to be European sometimes.

all culture's bad by definition.
i think the answer as far as sex-related topics goes lies somewhere comfortably in the middle between the extremes of those seen in the novels by Orwell and Huxely. sex in Huxely's was creepy and empty, and in Orwells was drained and empty.

Porn would go away if people have 'natural' views on sex, not the judeo-christan view where anything resembling sex pours a fearful response.
