During the past week, Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay have all sent letters to acting Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas, declaring that they recognize a free and independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders. Add France to that list.

France!!!

Great news!

But then again, while Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay declared that they recognize a free and independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, France declares the same based on the pre-1967 borders, based on the exchange of land between Israel and the Palestinians.

While its a good start, I worry about what Israel will consider a fair exchange.

I prefer the South American declarations, which reinforce the fact that Israel is illegally occupying Palestine.
